Programme objective: Provide sustainable Islamic microfinance options for economic resilience and the development of vulnerable rural and urban population in Kenya.
Our microfinance unit is an independent wing of Islamic Relief that provides interest-free loans to clients in line with the qard hassan mode of Islamic financing. We are empowering those economically vulnerable for sustained economic growth and improved food security. The intervention has strengthened adaptive capacity and provided alternative livelihood options for vulnerable households, with 90% of these being headed by women. The rights holders are involved in a variety of income generating activities, largely retail shops selling household items.
